As a national corporate company, MAB Kargo is always aware of the need to perform its corporate responsibility in a more responsible manner. With an annual revenue turnover of around RM2 billion and a return to profitability, MAB Kargo's management are aware of the need to "give" something back to the society.
To this effect, as a way to repay to the society, the cargo division has embarked on various events, for the benefits of needful individuals or charities in Malaysia. When doing business with the community, it has always been the management's stand that the company is taking something away not only for community but also the environment.
In the sporting arena, MAB Kargo is among the official cargo carriers for the Formula One Administration, the organisers of the Formula 1 world grand prix circuit since the 2002 season. The company was also one of the main sponsors of the KLM team that won first place in the World Challenge "Solar Odyssey 2001" rally in 2002.
Sometimes good things come in small packages. We have achieved major breakthroughs in transferring all types of goods all over the world, but none were more difficult or sensitive, like the case of the delivery of human tissue. The Alabama Tissue Centre (ATC) donated a pulmonary homograft valve conduit worth more than RM 30,000, for a 5-year old patient in Penang. The cargo was preserved at a temperature of minus –100 degree Celcius, within a special "cryo-shipper" (with the use of liquid nitrogen) drum from Los Angeles, and arrived safely at its destination.
Additionally, MAB Kargo organised a buka puasa feast on 11 November 2003. A total of 35 orphans from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Islam Sabak Bernam attended the event, held at the Pan Pacific Glenmarie, Shah Alam.
MAB Kargo's Senior General Manager was also in attendance, and he later took the opportunity to present the children with 'duit raya', as well as MAB Kargo towels and T-shirts. MAB Kargo has also contributed to the development of art and culture by co-sponsoring contemporary local batik artist Mohamed Abdullah's art pieces at a world-famous seaside resort Art Gallery in Mallorca, Spain. Apart from charitable contributions, MAB Kargo also assisted various parties in educational and research causes.
