• MASkargo will join the Unisys Digi-Portal e-commerce platform to promote its inventory
  • Will use cloud-based logistics solutions Digi-IQ and Digi-Portal
UNISYS Corporation on Feb 6 announced that MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo), the cargo division of Malaysia Airlines, will further enhance the digital transformation of its business using two secure cloud-based Unisys Digistics digital logistics solutions to make the airline’s cargo services available to a wider global freight market and provide customers with industry leading visibility across the shipment lifecycle.

Under a five-year engagement signed in November 2018, MASkargo will join the Unisys Digi-Portal e-commerce platform to promote its inventory to a wider global community of more than 25,000 buyers at forwarders, airlines, general sales agents and handlers across 140+ countries.

MASkargo will also use Unisys Digi-IQ to track, report and measure shipments – meeting and exceeding the worldwide cargo industry standards set by IATA Cargo iQ. MASkargo has used the core Digistics cloud-based logistics management system to manage its domestic and international cargo services since 2016.

“Kuala Lumpur is a vital and growing cargo transit hub for Asia. Using Unisys Digi-Portal we will be able to reach an even wider market of forwarders and shippers with an easy-to-use and secure online booking tool. Digi-IQ will provide us and our customers with greater visibility of their supply chain via real-time continuous monitoring of shipments tracked against key milestones.

“This will also help us identify and forecast potential service disruptions and take proactive measures to address them in advance. This will help us to provide a better service and reliability for our customers,” said MASkargo CEO Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh.
Digi-IQ automatically builds a route map for each shipment based on origin, destination, product, station operating hours, aircraft types and other factors. It then uses continuous monitoring in real time to track each shipment against key route map milestones with pre-alerts, advance notifications and early exception warnings based on configuration options, alerting operators to any actual or potential delays.

MASkargo is the largest cargo ground handling agent in Malaysia and handles more than 30 customer airlines at its Advanced Cargo Centre, processing more than 800,000 air waybills per year.

Andrew Whelan, vice president of Commercial Sector, Unisys Asia Pacific said: “These two Digistics software-as-a-service solutions will provide MASkargo with additional agility, ability to generate new revenues and visibility to quickly take advantage of market opportunities such as quickly offering promotions via Digi-Portal to optimise air cargo capacity.

“Using the Digi-IQ performance measurement system, advanced analytics will proactively identify early exception warnings so that MASkargo can take proactive measures to avoid service disruptions, to provide high service standards for its forwarder clients and the airlines it services as the Ground Handling Agent.”
