SUBANG, 18 MAY 2012– MASkargo unveiled its all-time high tonnage contributor at the bold and bedazzling Megatonners Awards 2011.

Schenker Logistics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. was crowned overall winner for the third consecutive year after stiff competition from second runner-up, Kintetsu World Express (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and third placed, Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.The award for Most Improved MASkargo Appointed Agent was awarded to A-Sonic Logistics (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. of Penang,whereas Forward Freight Services Sdn. Bhd. bagged the Top Charterer Award.

Present at the prestigious event were the Deputy Secretary-General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, YBhg. Dato’ Nik Rahmat Nik Taib and Group CEO of Malaysia Airlines, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, who were hosted by Mohd Yunus Idris, Acting CEO of MASkargo together with his team.

As host of the event, Mohd Yunus Idris outlined the company’s game-changing initiatives, in particular, the market-expansion strategy with the four new A330-200F freighters, alliances and partnerships with other key industry players as well as the challenges facing the company for 2012.

According to Mohd Yunus, “Our objective is to remain as one of the premier air cargo carriers in Asia – thereby facilitating positive growth towards the Malaysian economy. While the industry is facing the most challenging period in its history, MASkargo will aggressively expand our market reach to meet the expectations of our valued customers.”

He also added, “After winning the award for a number of consecutive years, we applaud tonight’s champion for the ability to sustain their top spot for this year.”

He continues, “The high tonnages achieved by all the winners are a reflection of the constant drive for innovation and improvement. We applaud you for your impressive achievements and loyalty toward MASkargo.”

Speaking at the opening, Ahmad Jauhari said “It is forecasted that the Malaysian logistics industry will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11.6% to reach RM203.71 billion in 2016. Therefore, we must remain fully committed and supportive in ensuring the growth of the air freight segment.”
