PORT MORESBY, 28 FEBRUARY 2012 - MASkargo set another historical milestone as it successfully launched its first charter freighter to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The flight, which utilized the newly acquired A330-200F freighter, transported oil and gas materials, which comprise of drilling equipments weighing at 30 tonnes and 30 foot in length.

The flight which took almost nine hours departed from Changi International Airport, Singapore at 1400 hours and touched down at Jacksons International Airport at 2240 hours the same day.

“By expanding into the charter business of air freight we hope this would enable us to further tap into new and emerging markets, particularly countries engaging business dealing with companies from Malaysia,” said Mr. Che Adenan Che Wan, Acting Senior Vice President of Business Development and Freighter Services of MASkargo.

He added, “Usually this kind of cargo shipment would normally take about two to three weeks to coordinate, however we manage to settle it in less than a week. Bravo to both charter and operations team, particularly Mr. Azman Fadzilah as the main coordinator.”

The first flight is set to serve as a bright starting point for MASkargo to explore the business opportunities for it freighter services at Papua New Guinea as the country is richly endowed with natural resources.
