Kuala Lumpur, 13 March 2012: Renowned as one of the most prestigious events of the global air freight industry, MASkargo was given the honor to host the 6th World Cargo Symposium in Kuala Lumpur.

The Symposium that is organized annually by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) attracts about 1000 delegates from various airlines, logistics operators and regulators who attend the event to listen and discuss on the latest updates on commercial developments and regulatory requirements.

Present to address the international crowd of delegates were the Minister of Transport Dato’ Sri Kong Cho Ha, Group CEO of Malaysia Airlines Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and IATA Director-General Tony Tyler.

During the Opening Plenary, the Minister and MAS CEO witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding for the Secure Freight Program between IATA and the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia.

Speaking at the Opening Plenary on Tuesday, Dato’ Sri Kong Cho Ha said “Malaysia is the pilot country for the secure freight program. The result of this close collaboration will benefit many industry players as it will reduce the complexities and costs of air cargo security, as well as ensuring that the supply chain stakeholders are working towards the same direction.”

The Symposium is a three-day event comprising of Plenary sessions on key topics such as economic outlook and security, and Specialized Tracks addressing commercial operations, regulations and technology issues.
