SEPANG, 17 JULY 2012 - MASkargo, the Malaysian-based air freight division of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been voted Cargo Airline of the Year, for its 5th consecutive year.

The carrier’s sterling overall performance last year led to the prestigious award, which is honored by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd. (MAHB) at the KLIA Awards 2011.

Mohd Yunus Idris, Ag. CEO of MASkargo said, “These awards are voted by our industry and their recognition of the continued success of MASkargo is a great honour.”

The evening saw the presentation of 18 awards for airlines and service providers with exceptional performance, operating at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The selection criteria for the winners were based on passenger movements, strong growth, good sales performance, international recognition as well as service performance.

Presenting the awards were Y. Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, Chairman of Malaysia Airports and Managing Director of Malaysia Airports, Y. Bhg Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad.

In what seems to be a challenging year for the air freight industry, the accolade is another notable achievement which reflects MASkargo’s relentless push to set a firm strength on its productivity level and take steps to genuinely globalize operations.

MASkargo recently took delivery of its fourth and final A330-200 freighter, where it will complement the two 747-400F freighters in the existing fleet. The combination of these two aircraft types will allow MASkargo to grow its network by better managing capacity to demand.
