MASkargo To Stop Collecting Bookings for Malaysian Non-Trunk Domestic Routes
Issued on 01 June 2006

SEPANG (Malaysia), 1 June 2006 - Malaysia Airlines Cargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) will stop accepting bookings and sales for aircraft belly space effective immediately on 99 domestic non-trunk routes in Malaysia, for travel on and after 1 August 2006.

This is due to parent company, Malaysia Airlines' exit from the non-trunk routes, which is part of its readiness plan to operate its new domestic network on the agreed upon 19 trunk routes which will take effect on 1 August 2006.

This announcement is made after consultation with the Ministry of Transport and AirAsia. All three parties acknowledge that this is a necessary part of the implementation of the new domestic aviation policy.

Flight Schedule changes and information will be reflected in the cargo reservations systems worldwide. Advisories from MASkargo will be sent to all their customers worldwide who have long-term contracts with the airline. A media release will also be issued to all print and electronic media as well as newswire services.

This move is initiated two months ahead of the new domestic network coming into effect in order to provide customers and agents' sufficient notice to either rearrange their schedules or to source alternative arrangements.

This is being conducted following a Government directive to restructure the domestic aviation sector into 19 trunk routes to be operated by MAS and 99 non-trunk routes including the Rural Air Services (RAS) to be operated by Air Asia. The trunk routes cater to international and business passenger traffic as these two sections are serviced heavily by MAS.

The 19 trunk routes that MAS will be operating are as follows:

Malaysia Airlines has begun updating its computer reservations and global distribution systems about the 99 non-trunk routes that will be removed from its system and network. This will involve a combination of Boeing 737, Fokker 50 and Twin Otter flights.

All forward bookings made to date for travel on the 99 non-trunk domestic routes on and after 1 August 2006 will be cancelled. While the cancellation is being handled by the source of booking, all requests for rerouting will need to be authorized at the nearest Malaysia Airlines ticket office. Likewise cargo bookings for belly space have also been cancelled, for the 99 non-trunk routes.

Malaysia Airlines will close three domestic stations, namely Lahad Datu, Limbang and Mulu and retain a sales station in Ipoh by 31 July 2006.Effective 1 August 2006, Malaysia Airlines will introduce a new schedule incorporating frequencies and flight timings for its operations on the 19 trunk routes.
