MASkargo Sdn Bhd, an accredited Halal Logistics provider, has successfully handled and delivered its first Halal shipment to the United Kingdom yesterday. The shipment, containing approximately 1 tonne of fresh vegetables, was flown from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to London Heathrow Airport on Malaysia Airlines flight MH 02.

Throughout the handling process prior to uplift and up to delivery in London, MASkargo ensured full compliance of the recognized ICCI – IHI Alliance Halal Standard (Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Industry – International Halal Integrity Alliance Ltd) for logistics which include eliminating risks of mixing Halal and non-Halal products by placing and distributing them separately, in accordance to the Islamic Law.

MASkargo Acting CEO, Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi said “As a premier air cargo player in Asia, MASkargo sees the value and potential of investing into the halal market. The demand for halal food is continuously increasing, not only among Muslim consumers but also among the Chinese and Japanese consumers who demand for food that has been transported using the most hygienic method. Having said that, MASkargo is proud to be a key player who provides worldwide access to halal food.”

On 2 March 2014, MASkargo received its Halal Logistics certification from the ICI – IHI Alliance, an international organization created to uphold the integrity of the halal market concept in global trade through recognition, collaboration and membership.
