Another Feather In MASkargo’s Charter Cap
MASkargo received glowing praises from its customer recently when the freighter aircraft flew 29 racing horses from Sydney Australia to Macao, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. The chartered flight left SYD at 2200LT on Monday 20th July 2020 evening and arrived at the Macau International Airport at 1105LT the next morning after a short transit in KUL. The horses were transported in nine horse stalls and accompanied by two grooms throughout their journey.
Following the successful delivery of the prized horses, the MASkargo Charter Team immediately received another charter flight request to transport horses sometime in August from the same customer, the Macao Jockey Club.
“This charter was definitely in a class of its own”, said Che Adenan Che Wan, MASkargo’s Freighter Operations Senior Manager. “New SOPs were introduced due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The accompanying grooms were required to provide the Covid-19 swab test results three days prior to the departure date before given approval to join the flight. They also had to observe the new norms onboard which included wearing mask and frequently sanitizing their hands throughout the flight.
“Another interesting fact about this flight was the uplift of a 3,000kg concrete block which served as a ballast to avoid aircraft trimming issue from KUL to MFM. All in, it was a commendable project which was made possible by the combined efforts from the different business units under the Malaysia Aviation Group. Our utmost appreciation goes out to the teams from Corporate Safety Oversight, Flight Operations, Corporate Security, Aero Darat Services, E& M Line Maintenance, In-flight Operation, Fuel Department, Operations Control Centre and Passenger Services”, ended Adenan.
The flight did not return empty as the MASkargo Charter Team led by Toti Harmoni Abd Rahman and Masita Mohamad Dahalan succeeded in securing another charter of general cargo from MFM into KUL. Basically it was a back-to-back charter arrangement which generated the right revenue. Well done everyone involved!
